About the book
Nick Danson emerges from the aftermath of a crash with injuries, a few clues, and an almost complete absence of personal memory. Following those clues brings him toward Beth, a woman who knows him as her husband but is, to him, a stranger. Their reunion cannot by itself explain where he has been or why an unusual craft has attracted official attention. The novel alternates the immediate puzzle of identity with the larger implications of contact beyond Earth. Michael Knerr combines a science-fiction mystery with the sexualized conventions of its paperback setting, making attraction and mistrust run together. Nick must negotiate familiar relationships without their remembered history while discovering how much other people know about his missing life.
