About the book

Chet Bullard awakens in a futuristic Vienna hospital, gradually recovering the memories of a dangerous voyage and the companions who shared it. The apparent safety of Earth proves temporary: Schwartzmann's ambitions draw Chet, Walt Harkness, and Diane back toward the Dark Moon as prisoners. Familiar loyalties must now operate under the pressure of an enemy's control, while the destination itself promises further threats beyond those human intentions. Diffin combines recovery, abduction, space travel, and encounters with a strange environment in a rapidly advancing adventure. The narrative explicitly continues Dark Moon and recalls earlier events as it gathers momentum. This text preserves the serial published in Astounding Stories from August through November 1931, with the renewed expedition forming its central action.

Why read it

The forced return to an already dangerous destination gives the expedition both unfinished history and immediate personal stakes.
